Manufacturing the Nitro Blade is a serious engineering feat, requiring specialised tools, expert craftsmanship, and extensive experience. High-nitrogen martensitic steel is notoriously difficult to work with, but when finished, it’s incredibly tough, highly wear-resistant, and maintains a sharp edge—just what’s needed!

Years of research and development at Comandante®'s onsite coffee lab have gone into perfecting the Nitro Blade® burr material and design. Made from high-alloyed, high-nitrogen stainless steel, it features a fine martensitic micro-crystal structure. The burr geometry is optimised for excellent bean throughput with reduced crank torque, while delivering a refined particle size distribution for the best brewing results.
Comandante loves natural wood. The solid oak handles, crafted by artisans in Germany’s Black Forest, are not only ergonomic but also showcase oak’s unique grain, offering a comfortable grip during grinding.
The Classic and Special Coating models feature a tough and sleek powder coating, baked on at high temperatures, not just painted.

Each C40 MK4 comes with a brown glass Bean Jar and a clear polymer-glass Bean Jar, both easy to clean and capable of holding around 40g of roasted coffee beans.
Weighing just over 600g, the C40’s compact and robust design makes it the perfect companion, whether at home or on the go.
All plastic components are made from BPA-free Tritan plastic.
